The First Year Soccer team got their season underway in great style this week, beating Clonturk CC, Whitehall 5-1 in the First Round of the Leinster Cup on Monday. This was an immense achievement considering that Clonturk had won their previous game 6-2 and it was the lads’ first game together as a team.
The star of the game had to be Robbie Dobbyn, who not only had the pride of captaining his team but lead by example and scored a Hattrick! The first half ended 2-1 and the game was in the melting pot but two early goals in the second half gave the team a cushion. However, they did not take the foot off the pedal and scored another goal late on. The next game for the first years will be the 17th of November against Wexford CBS, a powerhouse of Leinster Soccer and will no doubt be a cracker of a game!
